Wii Gaming Products

Nintendo is a well-established brand in the video game industry that made a huge impact back in the 1980s and continued to dominate the competition. Nintendo managed to do very well with early consoles like the original Nintendo and Super Nintendo consoles and even took most of the market share in the portable console market. Things began to shift when Sony began its invasion with the Sony Playstation consoles but Nintendo kept on going trying to innovate on gameplay rather than pure graphics power. This is why their latest product, which is simply known as the Wii, made such a big hit in both gaming and non-gaming communities alike. Wii gaming has a whole different meaning because Nintendo wants everyone to play games and possibly learn from the experience. The innovation starts from the Wii itself and many of its exclusive Wii games adapted from there.

The Wii System

wii gaming systemThe Wii is surprisingly a small console for its generation. In fact, it is the smallest video game console Nintendo has ever made if you do not count handhelds. The slot can read DVDs and the smaller Nintendo GameCube discs making this a very suitable GameCube replacement because of its backwards compatibility.

The Wii Games

To start things off, there are no controller ports so you can really assume that everything is wireless. The Sensor Bar accessory that is often placed on top of the display. This gives off the signal that the Wii relies on motion controls and it is the Wii Remote that is in charge of performing these gestures. It is shaped like a remote and has some buttons so combining your arm movement with button pressing can open up different possibilities of gameplay. You can even hold the Wii Remote sideways to resemble the feel of those classic Nintendo controllers. The Nunchuck attachment even adds more depth because it connects to the Wii Remote so you have two wand-like pieces with the Nunchuck attachment having a lone analog stick for playing more sophisticated Wii games.

Wii Controller

The Wii gaming experience is truly unique and while it may not please all kinds of gamers, the sales figures really show that people around the world are enjoying the innovations that Nintendo laid out. With the motion controller alone, so many family friendly games were made and while some third-party games failed to capitalize on the controller's accuracy, other games like WarioWare: Smooth Moves, No More Heroes, Okami, and The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess made excellent use of the remote and no other consoles could emulate such controls at the time.

Wii Consoles

One of the weaker areas was the graphics especially when you compare them with other seventh-generation consoles. But the Wii games yield much better graphics power than the GameCube and the games mentioned earlier still provide a nice visual experience so Wii gaming definitely feels complete even if it did not join the HD crowd.

Wii gaming isn't dying out either because there are some exciting upcoming releases that will make their ways to the store shelves this 2011 including Conduit 2, The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword, Xenoblade, The Last Story, and many other Wii exclusives.
